One of the industry’s top agencies has reaped the benefits of developing its own online portal and mobile app.
Melbourne Real Estate, which was named Property Management Business of the Year – Individual Office at this year’s Real Estate Business Awards, invested in the technology to improve communication between property managers and landlords.
Team leader Leigh Edwards told RPM the online portal gives landlords easy access to their entire investment portfolio.
“They’re able to see all their statements, who’s managing it for them, every invoice we’ve ever paid for them, marketing material we use, condition reports, routine inspection reports, tenant details and leases,” Mr Edwards said.
He said the portal is especially valued by Melbourne Real Estate’s 1,000-plus international owners, because it allows them to get information regardless of time differences.
Moving property management online has made the process more efficient, according to Mr Edwards.
“There are a lot of steps involved in managing properties, from the moment of the landlord listing with us until we sign up a tenant, do the condition report and manage the property throughout the tenancy,” he said.
“There’s a lot involved with that and the processes can be quite lengthy unless we find new ways to do things better and faster.”
According to Mr Edwards the company has about 1,600 properties under management and aims to reach 10,000 within the next five years.
