REIQ, along with partner Smoke Alarm Solutions (SAS), has recognised Queensland’s top property manager.

The real estate association named Rachael Byrne, of Jean Brown Properties on the Gold Coast, the top property manager in Queensland in an award ceremony at the REIQ 2017 Annual Awards for Excellence event on 4 February.

Ms Byrne was one of 10 semi-finalists from agencies in Queensland who were recognised for their excellence in the property management.

Ms Byrne started her career in the financial services industry. She climbed the ranks to become office and client services manager at a prominent finance, wealth creation and property development company, servicing a client base of more than 2,000.

When she discovered her passion for property, she moved into property management.

Ms Byrne has been working at Jean Brown Properties for the past five years, managing the extensive rent roll which covers the area from the Gold Coast to North Brisbane. It was her exceptional relationships with her clients that led to her nomination for the award.

SAS Australia and New Zealand sales and marketing director, Julieanne Worchurst, said the award recognises the services property managers provide.

“The best property managers in the industry always, without fail, ensure their landlords are compliant with the law and that their duty of care toward the tenants is upheld. These property managers stay up-to- date with changes in relevant legislation, inform landlords and arrange for the properties on their rent roll to become compliant,” Ms Worchurst said.

“One example of recently changed legislation impacting the industry is the stringent new smoke alarm legislation for Queensland properties. Our partnership with the REIQ is one of the most important communication channels for us to inform property managers about the new smoke alarm compliance requirements.”

The other finalists nominated for the award are – Angie Johnson, First National Real Estate Mooloolaba; Cushla Symons, RE/MAX Regency; Cyndi Ward, RE/MAX Gold; Kath Madgwick, Amber Werchon Property; Katie Knight, RE/MAX Success; Kellie Drinnan, Laguna Real Estate Noosa Heads; Lauren Robinson, Rental Results; Rachael Byrne, Jean Brown Properties and Samantha Rowland, Place 2108.
