Industry co-operative EAC commenced its annual event last week in Newcastle, with several experts addressing issues agents are concerned about.
EAC chair Ted Hanson says EAC Insights addresses agency compliance and innovation.
“As everyday practitioners, it’s vital to be across changes to legislation, as well as the evolving world of agent-created videos, virtual reality, drones, interactive websites and far, far more,” Mr Hanson said.
Industry advisers Greg and Lisa Jemmeson from Jemmeson Fisher, Rosy O’Sullivan from ACOP and Andrew Gavrielatos from Fair Trading NSW provided their thoughts on industry movements.
Approximately 50 agents from the Newcastle/Hunter region attended the event.
They were particularly concerned with the proposed changes Mr Gavrielatos said Fair Trading was looking at, especially issues relating to training, PPD points and compliance.
Feedback from those who attended was positive.
“Very good presentations hitting all aspects of real estate,” one of the attendees said, adding, “[It was an] informative seminar, relevant to today’s issues and direction real estate is taking.”
Mr Hanson said there is a need for greater understanding of the change taking place in real estate.
"Our aim is for [agents] to walk away and say to [their] colleagues and co-workers, ‘You should have been there’,” he said.
This was the first of more than a dozen EAC Insight events this year.
