One of Australia’s largest property portals has announced three community partnerships across Australia and Asia as part of its commitment to addressing the issue of homelessness.

REA Group’s new partnerships program, which runs until 2020, leads with a three-year extended commitment with Launch Housing, a housing and homelessness support service provider which has been REA Group’s major charity partner since 2014.

The partnership has already seen the development of the National Rapid Rehousing Fund, and provided financial assistance to 1,492 women and children who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness as a result of domestic violence.

The group also announced two other partnerships: a three-year commitment with Orange Sky Australia, with a focus on providing financial and in-kind support to Orange Sky Digital; and, with a growing footprint in Asia, a three-year commitment to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

All three partnerships form a significant component of REA’s purpose-led community activity.

REA Group Head of Community Partnerships Jessica Christie said that all three of the initiatives are important cornerstones of creating a better society to live in.

“We believe everyone deserves to have a safe place to sleep at night," Ms Christie said. "To help make this a reality, we’re proud to partner with these organisations to help make a tangible difference to the lives of people in need, not only through financial support but also offering our digital expertise.”

She also expressed excitement about expanding their community partnership program overseas for the first time and working with the ICRC to help people across the region build a better life.

Launch Housing deputy CEO Dr Heather Holst lauded REA’s support.

“We see more than 18,000 people a year desperate to put a roof over their heads. REA has helped these people overcome major barriers like affordability, and together we are starting to make a real difference around the country.”

Orange Sky Australia co-founder Lucas Patchett said there are some good reasons for Orange Sky Australia and REA to work together.

“Orange Sky is often the first port of call for people who are doing it tough on the streets. Orange Sky Digital can help introduce services to those people who may be afraid to get help in other ways. It made sense to partner with REA, a leading tech organisation, who understands better than most how technology can be used to help connect people.”

ICRC’s Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Arnaud De Baecque welcomed REA’s three-year commitment.

“Expressions of solidarity like this one from REA Group and its employees make it possible for the ICRC to continue our work in some of the most difficult areas in support of those most affected by conflict and violence.”
