One of the country’s largest property portals has made a high-profile appointment as part of its national experiential product growth strategy.

REA Group has appointed Val Brown to the role of executive general manager of ConsumerExperience. She will be part of the company’s executive leadership team, reporting to REA Group CEO Tracey Fellows.

Ms Brown is responsible for driving the group’s consumer product strategy for Australia’s leading property portals, realestate.com.au and flatmates.com.au, focusing on personalisation to help change the way people experience property.

She has more than 14 years of digital experience and has held several leadership positions within the REA Group. Her background also includes automotive, FMCG and classified industries, operating in both domestic and global markets.

Ms Fellows said that the appointment is an important step in the group maintaining its point of difference and competitive advantage.

“Creating richer and more engaging experiences for our consumers is critical to our success and differentiates us from our competitors,” Ms Fellows said.

“Val brings extensive expertise to this role and has a long history of delivering great consumer and customer products, particularly through her most recent role as head of our mobile apps team.”

Ms Brown said that she expects the new role will be a challenging but rewarding one.

“REA Group has the largest and most engaged audience of property seekers, sellers and daydreamers in Australia.

“I look forward to the challenge of further enriching their experience, while continuing to deliver value for our customers and real estate industry partners.”
