Charles Tarbey, chairman and owner of Century 21 Australasia, has been recognised for his contribution to real estate.

Mr Tarbey was awarded the coveted Woodrow Weight Award for his contribution to agency practice at a gala dinner last week held at the annual REINSW Awards for Excellence.

The Woodrow Weight Award is the REINSW’s highest honour. It recognises outstanding service to the real estate profession in New South Wales.

Mr Tarbey has been active in the real estate industry for 45 years, after opening his first real estate office at the age of 21. Since then he has built Century 21 into one of Australasia’s largest and most diverse property groups, in the process becoming one the industry’s most recognisable figures.

Mr Tarbey said that he is pleased to have received this industry accolade.

“I am extremely honoured to have received this award and to be recognised among a group of my industry peers for whom I have great respect,” the chairman said.

“Real estate practitioners are among the hardest working and most-skilled practitioners in Australia, and I believe the value of their skill set will only continue to grow in the face of shifting market dynamics.

“The traditional elements of real estate such as communication and negotiation are irreplaceable, so I believe the future is bright for agents and the valuable role they play in property transactions."

REINSW president John Cunningham said that the awards' winners are setting the standards for the rest of the industry to follow.

He also said that they highlight the professional standards that the real estate industry is striving for.

“The winners are paving the way as our commitment to professionalism grows stronger.

“[This is] across the whole spectrum including residential and commercial professionals, industry legends as well as innovation, community service and auctioneering.”
