Century 21 has upped the stakes in the social-targeted arena by becoming a global partner of Workplace by Facebook, giving it unprecedented social currency across its Australasian network.
Workplace is an adapted version of Facebook designed to connect companies to enhance business communication and operations, in the same way as the iconic global platform enables social networking.
The gradual rollout of Workplace will see all Century 21 offices and agents across Australia and New Zealand connected on the platform.
Century 21 Australasia chairman Charles Tarbey said that the initiative has been met with an “overwhelmingly” positive response due to Facebook’s familiarity and ease of use.
Mr Tarbey believes that the platform will be a powerful tool in transforming the way the network communicates across all levels of the business.
“Facebook is used by over a billion people worldwide, and its omnipresence and power of connectivity are qualities that have been transferred into the Workplace platform,” the chairman said.
“While there is always plenty happening across the network, we noticed a slight disconnect between this and the information that was being widely communicated and received by our agents.
“Our overarching goal using Workplace is to facilitate transparent and free-flowing communication throughout all levels of the business.”

On the new platform, each agent will have a personal profile similar to the regular Facebook platform. From the top down, corporate office will be able to share updates and pass on information. They will also be able to share training posts and video and multimedia content.
Mr Tarbey said that across the network, agents will be able to communicate with one another, commenting on posts, sharing tips and building relationships regardless of location.
“Agents are on the go, leading busy and fast-paced lives and Workplace is designed to keep up with this,” Mr Tarbey said. “Notifications are immediate and visible as they pop up on screen and will help agents to ensure that no information is missed.
“By using a communication tool that people already know and understand, the adoption of the technology is proving a natural process and many of our agents barely require any guidance as to how to use it.”
Mr Tarbey added that the network is taking “great care” to ensure that the rollout is carefully orchestrated.
Concluding, the chairman said: “We are proud to be among the earliest adopters of Workplace in real estate and believe its implementation is yet another example of Century 21’s ongoing commitment to be at the forefront of innovation.”
