Realestate.com.au has acknowledged the vital role that agents play in its business, saying that it relies “wholly and solely” on them to sell its products.
Executive general manager – residential at realestate.com.au Andrew Rechtman said that the property portal recognises that the agent industry is a crucial part of its business.
“So there are agents out there every day that are acting as a sales channel effectively for realestate.com.au’s products to vendors,” Mr Rechtman told REB.
“We don’t sell directly to vendors — a vendor cannot come to realestate.com.au and purchase a product. We rely wholly and solely on agents to sell our product on our behalf.”
“So we recognise the incredible importance that agents play in the success of our business.”
Mr Rechtman’s sentiments follow the announcement this week that realestate.com.au has re-launched its residential agent program: Advantage.
He said that the Advantage program is a coordinated approach to giving back to the industry.
Mr Rechtman said: “Because we know that the healthier the real estate industry — and in particular, the agent industry — is, the more effective it’s going to be in supporting our business over time.
“That is the reason for creating and expanding the Advantage program as we have in the last year or so.”
The program is designed to help realestate.com.au customers get more out of their realestate.com.au partnership. It provides them with access to a range of benefits, including exclusive events, development opportunities, sponsorships and community grants and funding for their business and people.
The program is made up of five pillars: community grants, corporate sponsoring and partnering agreements, industry partnerships, events, and key customer activations.
Mr Rechtman said that realestate.com.au recognises that it has the largest audience of property seekers and property vendors in Australia.
“We have had tremendous uptake and usage of our agent profiles and recently launched our agency profile,” the GM said.
“We think that partnership with the industry is very much about us taking the data that is open and available to all consumers and making it available so that they can make a choice about which properties they want to buy and which agents they want to work with.”
Mr Rechtman also said that with data becoming “more and more” transparent, realestate.com.au’s responsibility is to maintain a “high degree” of credibility.
“And that we present all data openly and directly and make it easy for consumers to use so that they can make the right choices in their property journey.
“So our philosophy is very much one of providing comprehensive unbiased data-driven information to any consumer that is coming to realestate.com.au — whether they are looking for a property to buy or doing research on agents.”
