A new property portal has launched a digital platform to showcase off-market properties, with more than 100 Australian homes as its starting point.
YouWish has launched an online platform that displays properties that are not on the market yet.
Founder Tariq Qayoom said that the site would suit sellers who want to showcase their homes to international or local markets without the pressure and expense of committing to selling.
Mr Qayoom said that the driver behind the initiative is to stimulate greater choice in a market with a consistent shortage of stock.
He added that the platform enables home owners to “casually” showcase their off-market homes for free for 12 months at any price they deem appropriate.
“They are under no pressure to sell but can receive messages from interested parties through the site,” Mr Qayoom said.
“The idea was borne out of the observation that buyers who couldn’t find what they wanted using existing channels were door knocking homes to ask owners if they would consider selling.”
Mr Qayoom said that selling a home can be one of the most stressful things to experience.
“What if you could showcase your home for your dream price without any obligation to sell, for as long as you want, just to see what interest is out there? Home owners ought to be able to satisfy that curiosity easily and affordably.”
Mr Qayoom also said that the platform will be of “particular interest” to those approaching life milestones.
The founder said: “A couple who have been in their house for, say, 25 years and are thinking about maybe selling up and downsizing would be very interested to know what price they could get, especially in overseas markets, without the pressure of actually committing to putting their house on the market.”
