In an Australian first, the REIQ, which is celebrating its centenary this year, is bringing one of the world’s most recognisable real estate names to its annual summit to share some insights on global real estate trends.

Brad Inman, the founder of the Inman Connect conferences in the US and real estate news service Inman, will headline the line-up at the industry body’s March event.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella said that Mr Inman is an innovative and creative thought leader.

She said that in addition to running a major events and news business, he is also the driving force behind several growing start-ups.

Ms Mercorella added that Mr Inman was known to be a provocateur and would give audiences plenty to think about.

“He loves to challenge people and get you thinking about the way things are versus the way they could be,” the CEO said.

“He’ll show audiences how to approach the real estate business with a different attitude.”

Ms Mercorella said that the REIQ Summit is recognised as one of the best real estate conferences on the calendar.

“We are building a reputation for bringing new and amazing people to the summit stage. We were the first to bring US realtor to the stars Dolly Lenz to Australia, and now we’re the first to bring the incredible Brad Inman.

“A lot of thought goes into it before we extend an invitation to appear at [the] summit, and we do not allow speakers to appear remotely from overseas.”

Mr Inman said that he would address the link between technology and fear currently running through the entire industry.

“Like agents everywhere, there is a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt as everyone tries to figure out what technology to use, how to stay relevant and how to provide superior customer service,” the founder said.

“Fear that technology will disrupt agents is common. It will disrupt the lazy ones and the ones who do not adopt the best technology and provide the best customer service.”

In addition to Mr Inman, the summit is laying on a raft of high-profile speakers, including Bernard Salt, Mia Freedman and Josh Phegan.

The summit will be held on 1–2 March at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
