Stockdale & Leggo Wangaratta has partnered up with Meals on Wheels Wangaratta to give back to the local community.

Meals on Wheels Wangaratta, a community organisation headed by the Rural City Council, provides meals to those unable to cook for themselves and aims to assist the elderly and those with disabilities to allow them to remain living in their own homes.

Meals on Wheels is an important social welfare service for the town, allowing recipients to connect with the community and get services that they may otherwise struggle to access.

Every second Monday, the Stockdale & Leggo Wangaratta team will be volunteering their time to assist with deliveries and other duties required to support the ongoing operations of the organisation.

Stockdale & Leggo Wangaratta director Peter Joyce said that partnering with Meals on Wheels was a way to give back to the community.

“Our team started volunteering with Meals on Wheels at the beginning of this year. As a team, we really wanted to play our part in helping out our local community,” Mr Joyce said.

Mr Joyce said that as the group has been in the area since 1994, many members of the team have been able to reconnect with past clients through the partnership.

“Since we began volunteering with Meals on Wheels, we’ve reconnected with so many past clients which has been a real pleasure. It’s great to catch up with them and hear how they’ve been doing, especially since so many of them are still living in the same homes which they purchased through our agency,” the director said.

“Serving these meals to members of our community has been a really rewarding experience and something we all look forward to every fortnight. In fact, we’re actually looking forward to our turn, too.”
