Di Jones Real Estate is excited to announce its sponsorship of the Clown Doctors Annual Ball that for the first time will be held in Sydney.

The Clown Doctors Annual Ball will be held at Luna Park in Sydney this year and will raise money for The Humour Foundation.

Kylie Walsh, Di Jones general manager and chair of the Clown Doctors Working Committee, said that clown doctors are specially trained to work in a hospital environment.

“The Clown Doctors are medical clowns who are specially trained by The Humour Foundation to work in a hospital setting,” Ms Walsh said.

Ms Walsh said that they put smiles on the faces of children and their families even when they are facing difficult circumstances.

“They [clown doctors] provide an environment where children and their families can smile, laugh and play while undergoing treatment and facing very difficult challenges,” Ms Walsh said.

Humour has numerous benefits in improving the wellbeing of sick kids, according to the GM.

“Research has shown that the therapeutic benefits of humour in improving the health and wellbeing of sick children is dramatic,” Ms Walsh said.

The annual ball is one of the organisation’s key fundraisers and Di Jones was proud to sponsor the event.

“The Clown Doctors rely on community donations and the annual ball is one of The Humour Foundation’s key fundraising initiatives to keep the program running,” the GM said.

“We chose to support the Clown Doctors because of the strong family link that our brand has.”

The event, usually held in the Southern Highlands, will attract a wider and more affluent audience with its relocation to Sydney, the GM said.

“Relocating the Clown Doctors Annual Ball to Sydney will help to capture a wider audience and more affluent attendees in an effort to raise more money for the charity,” Ms Walsh said.

Real estate agencies are often known for sponsoring charities, with Biggin & Scott Knox recently holding the Cancer Council Ball and Hockingstuart sponsoring Connor’s Run in Melbourne.

Di Jones chose Clown Doctors because they support all children and family regardless of illness, Ms Walsh said.

“Many charities support just one diagnosis. However, the Clown Doctors movement does not discriminate against one sickness, but rather supports all children and families regardless of their illness,” the GM said.
