Knowledge is power and that is especially true in the real estate market, according to one real estate professional.
Nicole Gleeson, from Kay & Burton Real Estate in Victoria, told a packed auditorium at AREC 2018 that they had to be the Google of their market.
“Being the Google means having knowledge, networks and relationships,” Ms Gleeson said.
Ms Gleeson added that it was important that you were there for your clients and anyone else inquiring about your area.
“Clients have to know they can come to you for your knowledge and you will know the market.
“It’s being the Google of the market for your clients.”
Ms Gleeson also told the 4,000-plus attendees that vendors would form an opinion of you within three seconds, so agents had to make that count.
“It takes three seconds for them to decide if they want to do business with you,” Ms Gleeson said.
Ms Gleeson told them that within three seconds, people would decide you were trustworthy, of a high status, smart, dominant or successful.
“If you’re looking your best, you have most of these things covered,” Ms Gleeson said.
She said that opportunities were always just around the corner, and no matter your mood you had to look presentable.
“I don’t think you can afford to have a down day, [for] that could be the day you meet your next business opportunity,” the agent said.
Ms Gleeson offered to agents that they create a style and to align their style with the clients that they wanted to attract.
“Align with the clientele you’re trying to align yourself with,” the agent said.
Ms Gleeson also reminded the female agents in the room that they had the advantage in the industry.
“With women we tend to connect on different levels. We tend to notice the detail about homes and what is necessary and important,” the agent said.
