Survivor, award winner and principal of Stone Real Estate Seaforth Maria Cassarino has been announced as a finalist for Sales Campaign of the Year in the 2018 Real Estate Business Awards.
The nomination follows a string of accolades for Ms Cassarino who, recovering from cancer, went on to become Stone’s number one agent in her first year back.
Ms Cassarino is ranked 23rd in the 2017 REB Women in Real Estate, the highest-placed female agent on Sydney’s northern beaches.
She has remained in the top three in the Stone network as it grew, and she has also been ranked Seaforth’s number one agent by RateMyAgent four years running to 2018.
Ms Cassarino’s achievements follow her arduous battle not only fighting a rare form of cancer but also enduring to receive the proper treatment in time.
“In February 2012, I was diagnosed with a rare cancer and was told to wait for treatment,” the agent explained.
“I wasn’t the only one in Sydney, and because of this, I lobbied the government to have waiting periods for people suffering my cancer lifted so we could get our treatment.
“In short, I did eventually get my treatment, but not before I was told that I was probably going to die. Definitely a confronting moment for a 37-year-old, but I guess this gave me the tenacity and strength to never say die, which I feel has helped with my career moving forward.”
Ms Cassarino said that she was “out of the loop” for two years.
“When I resurfaced again, it was when I came to Stone Real Estate and I became one of the founding partners when Peter Mumford began Stone. Three years on and we have franchised to take on full ownership of the Seaforth business.”
Ms Cassarino’s Seaforth Stone office, where she is both the licensee and principal, was shortlisted for New Office of the Year at the REB Awards in 2016 and 2017.
This year’s awards will be held at The Star in Sydney on 19 July. To book tickets, click here.
