As many as 27 per cent of the REB Top 100 Agents for 2018 are part of the McGrath network, which is a significant result for the high-profile network as it continues to drive its turnaround strategy.
This is up by 42 per cent from the 19 agents listed in the 2017 ranking.
Significantly, 37 per cent of the top-ranked female agents in Australia work with McGrath, up from 25 per cent last year.
In the wake of its recent $25 million after-tax loss, previous McGrath CEO Cameron Judson said that the main challenge the group had faced since its poor run of form began in 2015 is the significant drop in its company-owner sales. He said that this is due primarily to the company losing more than 50 of its best-performing agents since the listing (in 2015) and it not being able to replace them like for like.
More recently, current CEO Geoff Lucas told REB that securing high-quality new recruits is one of the three key initiatives of the group’s refocused recovery plan.
“Importantly, we will continue to strive to be an organisation where those who wish to be the very best in their particular field are attracted to work.”
McGrath’s representation across the 2018 REB Top 100 Agents ranking suggests that this collective wisdom is taking root.
Executive director John McGrath said that it is an encouraging result.
“I am proud and delighted at the great achievement of our sales team yet again,” Mr McGrath said.
“Our agents represent less than 1 per cent of total agents in Australia, yet they achieved 27 per cent of the top agents, which is an amazing honour and a testament to the quality of the team and the sales system we have developed. But the real thanks go to the 12,500 vendors who put us to work to allow us to do our best work on their behalf.”
