Consumers’ newly acquired understanding of the benefits of outsourcing the “time-consuming” research and negotiation functions of buying real estate means buyer’s agents are becoming more and more commonplace in the modern market, one leading buyer’s agent has said.

CEO and founder of propertybuyer.com.au Rich Harvey said that there are many benefits associated with using a buyer’s agent.

“Using a buyer’s agent means that buyers can avoid emotional buying decisions, obtain independent advice on the right price to pay, speed up the search process and have a professional negotiator exclusively on their side,” the founder said.

Mr Harvey was crowned the national Buyer’s Agent of the Year at last week’s prestigious Real Estate Business Awards for 2018.

He said that he was “humbled and thrilled” to receive the award.

“It helps to reinforce the clear message that we present to potential buyers every day, which is to seek independent advice, be careful with property selection and don’t take shortcuts when buying real estate.”

Mr Harvey serves in a voluntary capacity as the president of the Real Estate Buyers Agents Association of Australia and chairman of the buyer’s agent chapter at the REINSW.

In 2015, the CEO lobbied to get buyer’s agents recognised on the front page of the standard contract of sale, and he is currently lobbying for improved education and training standards.

“Properytbuyer’s recognition for its excellent contribution to the buyer’s agent industry reinforces the strength of the brand in connecting with the community and engaging with its customers,” the founder said.

Mr Harvey was also a finalist in the categories of Thought Leader of the Year and in the overall Real Estate Business Excellence Award for having some of the highest scores from the judges.

The award that Mr Harvey won is highly contested, with 10 finalists in the buyer’s agent category. It recognises the highest level of excellence of service in buyer’s agency and was assessed by an independent panel of judges.
