Following the launch of a new business model, Savills Australia has appointed a new national head of retail investment to oversee growth.
Ben Parkinson has stepped into the newly created role after nine years of experience with Coles Property where he was head of investment management.
Savills Australia & New Zealand CEO Paul Craig said that Mr Parkinson’s background would give the company a competitive edge.
“Working for one of Australia’s leading retailers has provided Ben with in-depth market knowledge of Australia’s retail landscape and allowed him to establish long-term relationships with pivotal players in the industry,” Mr Craig said.
In addition to leading the retail business, Mr Parkinson has also joined the newly established Australian board.
Mr Parkinson said that he was very excited to help develop and grow Savills’ existing team.
“With more than 20 years’ experience in commercial property spanning retail, hotel, development and capital transactions, I feel that my extensive client-side knowledge will give the market a unique alternative to the current retail agency models on offer,” the appointee said.
Mr Parkinson said that trends constantly change, and the restructure of Savills Australia would allow them to operate efficiently and respond better to clients’ needs.
“With the official launch of our new business model underway, we are focused on ensuring this approach strengthens our national product lines and provides greater opportunity for our people,” Mr Parkinson said.
Mr Parkinson added that it was a very exciting time for the company and the new structure would help them flourish.
“We’re looking forward to watching our people flourish under this new structure and are confident it will help us attract and retain the highest-level talent going forward,” the new head of investment management said.
