The director of a rising boutique network in Victoria has been awarded the company’s highest possible award and is the third person to do so over 157 years.

Adam Gillon, director of Buxton Hampton East, has been presented with the J.R. Buxton Award for his efforts as part of the overall Buxton team at the network’s Buxton Annual Awards night.

The award was named after Adam Gillon’s great-great-grandfather and one of Buxton’s founders, John Robert Buxton.

“I did not know this was coming my way at all. It was such a nice surprise, particularly to be acknowledged by my peers for my contribution away from just the business side of real estate,” Mr Gillon said.

“Coming from the Buxton family, it really is such an honour to receive this award that is named after my great-great-grandfather. I know my grandmother would be very proud.”

Presented by Craig Williamson, director of Buxton Bentleigh, the award was won by Mr Gillon not just because of his real estate prowess over 20 years at Buxton, but also because he is the “complete package”.

“Being presented this award is a reflection of Adam’s greater value, and that is hard to measure. His influence to the Buxton business is like no other,” Mr Williamson said.

“We didn’t present him with this accolade because he brings in a certain number of listings or because he has completed thousands of auctions. Adam guides the business with a sense of camaraderie. As a friend and a human, he is a phenomenal person who is incredibly generous and lives an inspired life.”

The CEO of Buxton, Nathan Jones, said that the J.R. Buxton Award was not handed out lightly.

“Adam now joins Bert Stewart from Brighton (2004) and Bill Jowett from Sandringham (2015), who have previously been celebrated with the award,” Mr Jones said.

“Each has ultimately won it for differing reasons; however, at the core, these individuals have gone above and beyond for the benefit of everyone at Buxton over an extended period of time.

“It was a privilege to share that moment with Adam and it was an especially touching [one] to have his long-time friend and colleague, Craig Williamson, present the award sharing some of his personal experiences with Adam over the journey.”
