A relative newcomer has made a remarkable real estate statement by achieving what only a few have done before him, despite the flaccid Perth market challenges.
After only a handful of years in the business, Daniel Gonzalez from Realty Lane has taken out the award for the highest value of properties sold in WA at the recent reiwa.com 2018 awards night.
He secured first place with 119 properties sold with a value of $132,182,000, the highest value in WA.
This was well ahead of the second place finisher with 66 sold at $119,473,500.
Mr Gonzales was elated.
“What can I say, it’s a dream come true,” the agent said.
“We aimed for the stars and are humbled, grateful and honoured for the outcome achieved. We are proud to see that our hard work, dedication and commitment to our client has been recognised.
“But most importantly, we would like to thank our clients for allowing us to be a part of their journey, as they have been instrumental in ours.”
Mr Gonzalez left the music industry just three years ago to embark on his real estate career.
He believed then that spending two hours cold-calling every day and knocking on 100 doors a week would pay dividends. It has.
“You might feel that nothing is happening from it, but the work you do is being accumulated and it will come back around,” Mr Gonzalez told Tom Panos as part of Mr Panos’ Real Estate Gym series.
“What I have found personally is that just when you are about to give up, just when you think this isn’t working, all of a sudden something will come in completely unexpected.”
Mr Gonzalez also said that many agents drop tasks instead of persevering and giving them a chance to succeed.
“Much like a fad diet, people start on something and try it for three weeks and then they change it. And then try something else for a little bit and then they drop that, too.
“They keep chopping and changing, and never give anything a long enough chance to work.”
Mr Gonzalez made mention again that real estate is a long game.
“Don’t judge things in a day, don’t judge things in a week because sometimes we overestimate what we can achieve in a month and underestimate what we can achieve in a year.”
