Harcourts South Africa has partnered with The Global Challenge, an international professional women’s golf team event, where nine players selected to represent the Northern Hemisphere will be teeing up against their counterparts from the Southern Hemisphere.
The event is set to be hosted for the second time from 9 to 11 November in Hermanus, South Africa.
For the first time in sporting history, a world-class sportswoman with a physical disability will be selected by each captain and included into their teams to compete alongside team members in The Global Challenge.
Dutch Paralympian and tennis and table tennis gold medallist Monique Kalkman and golf champion amputee Caroline Larsson from Sweden have been selected by the team captains to participate.
Harcourts South Africa CEO Richard Gray said it was an “immense” privilege to be the only real estate partner of this event.
“At Harcourts, we are committed to making a difference,” Mr Gray said.
“As a global organisation, being socially responsible is not a trend or a marketing exercise. In fact, some of the world’s most successful people in fields as diverse as the arts, business and politics have made huge changes to their lives in recognition of what it means to be in a position to help and the notion that we can all make a difference.”

The event will be hosted at the seaside Hermanus Golf Club in the Western Cape, two hours southeast of Cape Town, for the second year running.
“Hermanus Golf Club is a sublime location and paired with all these great professional players alongside the two amazing and inspirational women, Monique Kalkman and Caroline Larsson, the event is going to be a beautiful experience,” Mr Gray said.
“Harcourts has always believed that together we are able to change lives and make dreams come true.”
Mr Gray said that what sets this event apart is the dedication of the 18 professionals teeing up for no prize money.
“With the aim of raising as much money for charity as possible during the duel between the two hemispheres.
“Professionals will be appealing to their fans around the world as part of the #BangTheDrum campaign via their social media platforms to donate to those who are in need.”
He said that together with the sponsors and global fans, the players will be aiming to reach their target of raising ZAR 300,000.
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday evening, 9 November, where local band Mango Groove will perform a live outdoor concert.
Mr Gray said that the charities that will benefit include Full Tummy Fund, Just Care Hermanus, Overstrand Association for Persons with Disabilities (OAPD) and Learn to Earn.
