Celebrating its 90th anniversary this month, LJ Hooker has seen most of the evolutions experienced by the Australian real estate industry. It says that as little as 15 years ago, you could have had a very successful real estate career simply by having good local market knowledge. But those days are gone, and today real estate is a 360-degree proposition.

Network chief Graeme Hyde said that, ever the pioneer, LJ Hooker has evolved with the changing landscape.

“We now make sure our business owners and their teams are highly skilled with a 360-degree proposition that combines online and offline value.

“The industry is constantly changing as consumers’ needs change, although we are now experiencing the most rapid change in history.”

He said that buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants have an immediate expectation regarding access to information.

“In this digital age, a real estate specialist without a holistic offering that boasts contemporary digital services at its core, risks becoming irrelevant.”

All of this notwithstanding, chairman L. Janusz Hooker said that right now is the most exciting points in time to be in real estate.

He said that the real estate asset class in Australia is worth $7.5 trillion, by far the most valuable asset class.

“Australians are still passionate about property, and to be having a brand like LJ Hooker puts us in a very privileged position to keep serving customers that we have served for now three generations,” Mr Hooker said.

“I see the fourth industrial revolution, which is sort of the second part of the digital revolution, as a very exciting time for our industry.

“Now customers are demanding more online, anywhere, anytime. And this technology that is coming out and the things that we have built, and are building, enable our customers to have new levels of experience with real estate.”
