Raine & Horne Bella Vista will be the corporate sponsor of the 2018 McMaster Shield, an event that supports the development of special needs programs, for the second year running.
Raine & Horne Bella Vista’s Emmanuel Fardouly said that events such as the McMaster Shield represent the core values of the local community.
Mr Fardouly said that 17-year-old Patrick Gleeson, of Glenwood High School, has once again rallied the financial backing of the local community in organising the McMaster Shield.
Patrick has brought together the students of special needs programs from participating local schools Model Farms, Baulkham Hills and Glenwood.
“It’s a very well-run event and Patrick does an amazing job in coordinating the details, bringing on sponsors and engaging the community to get everyone involved.”
Mr Fardouly said that the McMaster Shield is a very special event for the local schools, students, parents and businesses.
“As a business owner, it’s an extraordinary opportunity to see the smiles on the faces of the kids involved as they realise that they have the full support of the community behind them.
“We had a wonderful time at last year’s inaugural event and didn’t hesitate to commit to the McMaster Shield for this year and years to come.”
Mr Fardouly said that a little over 200 students are expected to participate in a mini Olympics, with events ranging from AFL football to T-ball at a range of levels based on students’ differing abilities as they compete to win the coveted McMaster Shield.
Named in honour of former principal Erla McMaster, the event aims to unite the local community to celebrate fun, mateship and diversity through sport and teamwork by giving the special needs programs and students a platform to shine.
Local businesses have been quick to support the initiative and contribute to its ongoing success.
