LJ Hooker has recruited an experienced auctioneer to its network development team, bringing to the recruitment division a background across both real estate and technology.
LJ Hooker has appointed former Cooley Auctions auctioneer Toby Llewellyn to its recruitment division.
In addition to calling for Cooley Auctions across New South Wales, Mr Llewellyn was instrumental in rolling out its online auction management platform, AuctionNow.
Mr Llewellyn said that he was pleased to have joined the group.
“LJ Hooker’s vision to take the lead in the industry’s digital transformation excites me,” he said.
“Having a background in technology, I’ve been impressed with how LJ Hooker has utilised digital as an enabler for sellers, buyers and agents in an evolving marketplace.
“There’s a lot of talent out there wanting to know how they can properly harness tech to future-proof their personal businesses. I’m looking forward to showcasing to them how LJ Hooker can partner with them to better engage the modern customer in the digital landscape.”
LJ Hooker head of network development Ben Mitchell said that Mr Llewellyn is an asset to the group.
“Toby has great connections throughout Sydney’s real estate circles, as well as regional New South Wales, having grown up in Bathurst,” Mr Mitchell said.
“We’ve experienced a growth year in terms of network offices in 2018, and we’re looking to capitalise on that platform in 2019, both through new offices in new marketplaces and bolstering existing agencies with top sales talent.
“As an auctioneer, Toby has a keen eye for agent talent. He’ll complement our other network development specialists in cementing LJ Hooker as the attraction brand for agents in 2019 and beyond.”
Mr Llewellyn’s appointment follows the recruitment of two Gold Coast agents last month to lead LJ Hooker’s newly launched Burleigh Beach office.
Danny O’Donnell and Adam Van Leeuwen are joint partners in the network’s latest venture on the Gold Coast’s southern market.
Mr O’Donnell and Mr Van Leeuwen sold over $60 million worth of property in the past year across the Burleigh Heads and Miami markets.
LJ Hooker state director Stephen Mutton said at the time that the duo’s move to the national network was symbolic of a changing market.
“Real estate is changing: APRA has clamped down on the investor market, the Hayne royal commission will likely make owner-occupiers leap through more hoops when it releases its February report, and there are far more players competing for the same slice of the market,” Mr Mutton said.
