One rising Melbourne boutique agency has taken on seven new equity partners, after it announced a new a corporate structure in 2018 with a unique equity offering for staff members.
Kay & Burton Group has announced that Gary Ormrod, Tom Staughton, Andrew Sahhar, Rebecca Edwards, Grant Samuel, Lou Opie and Carolyn Purnell-Webb are the firm’s new equity partners.
Kay & Burton non-executive chairman Rob Edgley said it was a significant step for the group.
“We are very excited to announce this diverse group of talented and high-performing business professionals as our new equity partners,” he added.
“We are certain that they will be instrumental in taking Kay & Burton to even greater heights.
Gary Ormrod joined Kay & Burton as a property manager in late 1997 and moved into the sales division in 2001. Over the last 20 years, he has become one of Kay & Burton’s most consistent performers, winning the award for 2018 Top Salesperson by transaction volume.
Tom Staughton has enjoyed a distinguished career at Kay & Burton since graduating from Swinburne University. He started in property management before moving into sales, where he has spent the past 15 years. He was recognised by Kay & Burton as a Rising Star in 2013.
Andrew Sahhar has experienced success in selling property in Melbourne’s most prestigious suburbs since joining Kay & Burton South Yarra in 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management).
Rebecca Edwards has been a key member of the dynamic Hawthorn office since September 2011. She was recognised by Kay & Burton as a Rising Star in 2016 and won the 2016 and 2017 award for Top Salesperson by transaction volume.
Grant Samuel joined Kay & Burton’s South Yarra office in July 2014 and has extensive experience at a director’s level in sales and corporate marketing roles. He was awarded the company’s Rising Star award in 2016 followed by the 2018 Top Salesperson of the Year.
Lou Opie is currently the group’s COO. She joined Kay & Burton in February 2016 with a wealth of experience gained from 25 years as a Chartered Accountant in the financial services sector in Australia, London and the Middle East.
Carolyn Purnell-Webb joined Kay & Burton in September 2016 to lead the property management division after running her own property management consultancy and training business for 16 years. She received the Outstanding Leadership award in both 2017 and 2018. Ms Purnell-Webb has an MBA from Griffith University and will complete a law degree in 2019.
In 2018, Kay & Burton also announced the development of Kay & Burton Projects, the launching of new sales and property management businesses in Armadale and Brighton and the implementation of “cloud-based” technology throughout the organisation.
