The annual REINSW Women in Real Estate (WIRE) conference will return in March, where delegates will hear from one woman who knows exactly how it feels to be near Harvey Weinstein.

This year, attendees will hear from a range of prominent speakers, including former actress and face of the #MeToo movement, Louisette Geiss.

Ms Geiss is a former actress turned property indemnity insurance expert. She left the entertainment industry following a negative experience with Harvey Weinstein, is now the face of the #MeToo movement and is an advocate for justice in the Weinstein case and women’s rights.

Ms Geiss is supported by a range of industry speakers.

Ewan Morton is the co-founder and joint managing director of real estate company Morton, multiple finalists and winners of REINSW Awards for Excellence.

Veronica Morgan is an agent and founder of Good Deeds Property Buyers. She is also the co-host of Location Location Location Australia.

Cathy Baker is the award-winning Belle Property principal.

Gina McCartney is the REA Group’s executive manager of residential marketing and events.

REINSW president Leanne Pilkington said this is an important event on the calendar.

“There are many women in our industry who are incredibly successful and accomplished — who don’t go looking for the spotlight. They often don’t receive the acknowledgement and praise they deserve, but events like these shine light on their achievements and encourage others to step outside their comfort zone and challenge themselves.

“Our Women in Real Estate conference is a great way for real estate professionals, particularly women and male champions of change, to network and be inspired by our knowledgeable speakers who have years of experience, both in and out of real estate.

“Continuing to empower female agents through these events is a positive step to address the gender imbalance, particularly at the top, to create a truer representation of the 50-50 gender split in the industry.”

She said the conference brings together women across the industry and well-known local and international speakers for a day of professional development and personal motivation.

“The event aims to inspire women in the real estate industry and change the gender-imbalanced landscape,” Ms Pilkington said.

“The day will consist of sessions featuring speakers who will share their stories of inspiration ranging from the personal to the practical, and a networking lunch.”

Ms Pilkington will be the MC on the day.
