Richardson & Wrench will open an office in a niche Queensland market to tap into the rising demand for unique lifestyle property.

Sally and Dirk Van Den Heuvel will open a R&W office in Hervey Bay, a coastal city in southern Queensland.

Ms Van Den Heuvel has been in real estate for a decade and is returning to Hervey Bay after a brief absence.

She said that this will allow her to pick up the business relationships she built up when she first moved to the area in the early 90s.

Both Ms and Mr Van Den Heuvel have a strong network of community connections.

Ms Van Den Heuvel is an accomplished sportswoman, devoting much of her early years in Hervey Bay to equestrian activities and inter-city tennis. She is a previous Hervey Bay Sportsperson of the Year. Mr Van Den Heuvel served as a senior sales executive for two of Australia’s largest blue-chip timber companies.

Ms Van Den Heuvel said that, like many of their clients, they made a lifestyle decision five years ago to settle in Hervey Bay.

She said that the decision to relaunch with R&W was driven by the “good reputation the brand has enjoyed over many years”.

R&W managing director Andrew Cocks said that Ms and Mr Van Den Heuvel would have the backing of Australia’s oldest real estate company, with the bonus of local brand recognition.

“Community involvement coupled with integrity and honesty are values cherished by our network, and we are delighted to have Sally and Dirk join us to continue that legacy,” he said.

“The way we live and work, and in fact, where we live and work, is rapidly changing, and Sally and Dirk are the embodiment of this change, having established their office under the R&W bespoke franchise model.

“It’s acknowledgement that real estate is a people business aided by technology and no longer reliant on a retail shopfront.”
