The Sydney real estate agent shot in an alleged hit last week may not have been the intended target, and it has emerged now that more details regarding unpaid debts have come to light.
Director at Morgans in the Sydney suburb of Castle Hill, Sid Morgan, was shot in the face last week and new details have emerged.
It is now believed that the circumstances that led to the incident may have revolved around a dispute allegedly involving two Irish tradies chasing money — but it may not have been Mr Morgan who they were after.
According to The Nine Network, police have arrested Mark Dixon, 30, and Jack Harvey, 26, in Broken Head in northern NSW after a six-day man hunt.
Earlier, two other men, aged 29 and 30, from Point Cook were arrested and questioned, but both were released without charge.
Nine is reporting that Mr Morgan travelled to Melbourne to help a building contractor friend who was allegedly being threatened by tradesmen — and it is the friend that may have been the intended target.
It is also understood that the friend and his family fled their Melbourne home and Mr Morgan remained behind alone. Mr Morgan is thought to have tried to warn the tradesmen off, but the dispute escalated and Mr Morgan was shot in the face.
He remains in a critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The shooting took place outside a residence in Spraypoint Drive at Point Cook in Melbourne.
It has been reported that neighbours said they heard an argument before a gunshot went off.
On Saturday morning, investigators arrested two men who were later released pending further investigation.
Mr Morgan allegedly had a history of failed business dealings, bankruptcy and debt, according to News Corp reports. It said that he apparently owed a lot of people money and was living on the edge financially.
Mr Morgan is a former police detective, who more than 12 years ago shot and killed Mansour Suha, his brother-in-law, in Sydney, after Mr Suha had been charged with molesting three girls.
Mr Morgan specialises in selling high-end luxury homes throughout NSW, according to his online profile. It also says he won awards in a range of disciplines, including tech, marketing and customer service.
