A group of LJ Hooker agencies has made a $2.05 million investment in the central Gold Coast market, purchasing a Robina headquarters to cater for growth in its hinterland-to-coast operation.

Business leaders David Manby and Raymond Pienaar said the move is the “central plank” in their growth strategy for 2019, aimed to increase the number of sales, property management and support and marketing staff from 70 to 90 across five agencies.

To do so, the entrepreneurial pair have centralised their Robina and Mudgeeraba teams at the new HQ, and added LJ Hooker Mermaid Beach, which will work in tandem with sister agency LJ Hooker Burleigh Heads, to the stable. They will also re-launch the Nobby Beach coastal agency.

Mr Manby said the new HQ fit-out is reminiscent of a contemporary home, which is a significant departure from a typical real estate agency.

“The new office encourages agents, property managers and their clients to create property solutions in a warm and familiar environment, with pods, break-out meeting rooms and even a ‘garden’ café all part of the new design in a unique approach to modern real estate,” he said.

Mr Manby said the strategy has recently attracted a handful of premium agents across the Gold Coast in the last year.

“Robina is one of the city’s two business hubs, but it’s also the heart of our service area,” he said.

“We stretch from Mudgeeraba and the Hinterland, through to the Coast, so being on the edge of the Town Centre is the optimum location for our central hub, supported by our presences at Nobbys Beach and Burleigh Heads.

“We’ve developed our own section for our digital and print marketing team to process all our agents’ collateral, in-house.”

Mr Pienaar said the pair wanted to reinvent the wheel, and it’s worked.

“It’s only early days, but the energy and engagement you see on the faces of the customers who come in to talk about their real estate needs shows that we’ve created something quite special in real estate.

“The garden café is a real feature of the HQ. In addition to the customer experience, it’s also a great place for younger agents and property managers to spend time with seasoned, top-line performer, where they can learn from the best.

“We wanted to create something that turned the usual real estate customer experience on its head.”

LJ Hooker Queensland managing director Stephen Mutton said the pair are to be congratulated.

“The central corridor from Mudgeeraba to Mermaid Beach is a dynamic market with everything from acreage to townhouse investments, Town Centre apartment living to Millionaire’s Row,” Mr Mutton said.

“Dave and Raymond’s team are building one of the largest teams on the Coast with the specialists to service every area of this diverse market.

“It’s a significant business decision to buy their own HQ and underpins their commitment for growth in the various markets.”
