Real Estate Institute of Australia board member Leanne Pilkington has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the real estate profession as she took out the best-of-the-best award at the inaugural REB Women in Real Estate Awards.

Ms Pilkington won the industry’s Excellence Award, which is only open to category winners, at the awards ceremony in Sydney on Thursday night after earlier winning the Association Professional of the Year award.

“Leanne is an exceptional talent,” he said.

“Her leadership as REINSW president, REIA board member and Laing+Simmons managing director gives her a strong voice in the industry and her positive contribution has led to her success.”

Mr Kelly said her winning the Excellence Award spoke volumes of her influence in the industry.

“Competition for the Excellence Award was fierce, with Leanne beating the other winners from 100 finalists and over 400 entries,” Mr Kelly said.

“Leanne’s ability to connect with real estate professionals is exceptional. Her support and encouragement of women to aspire to more senior positions and leadership roles makes her an outstanding ambassador.”

Other notable category winners were Rising Star Hema Ramoo, from RAM International; Young Leader of the Year Marina Makhlin, from Belle Property; and Tanja M Jones from TMJ Coaching who won both the Wellness Advocate of the Year – Individual and the Industry Thought Leader of the Year awards.

In partnership with Homely, the 2019 REB Women in Real Estate Awards was attended by over 500 people who came together to recognise the nation’s leading women in the industry.

REB editor Tim Neary said the event is an important new initiative.

“The awards provide a platform for women in the industry to showcase their talents and be role models for others,” Mr Neary said.

“It is a great way to recognise the industry’s high-performance female agents, property managers, BDMs and businesses.”

Homely co-founder and CEO Jason Spencer said partnering with the REB Women in Real Estate Awards was a great way to show their commitment to the industry.

“Homely is proud to be the principal partner of the REB Women in Real Estate Awards,” he said.

“It is important for us to take this opportunity to return the favour to all the hard-working women that have been some of Homely’s biggest supporters since launching.”
