Two leading independents in one of Melbourne’s growing suburbs have joined forces, as each looks to execute on its strategic decisions to grow and expand.

G.A. Thomson & Co. (Murrumbeena) has joined forces with the Gary Peer group, bringing to the local market more than 90 years of combined experience and expertise.

The merger will see Thomson Murrumbeena directors David Thomson, Anthony Lee and Felicity Thomson remain on board, focusing on their traditional areas of expertise. Mr Thomson will also join the local Gary Peer sales team at its Carnegie office, headed by director Leor Samuel.

Mr Thomson will continue servicing and auctioneering for his many long-standing clients and other clients within the Gary Peer organisation.

Mr Thompson called the merger with Gary Peer a “terrific fit” and an exciting move for the company as both businesses complement each other in many ways.

“The move will provide greater resources and support, plus career progression for our team as we move into 2020 and beyond,” he said.

Mr Lee will remain at the helm of the property management division, in the Murrumbeena Road office, with his existing team and the current property management team from Gary Peer’s Carnegie office joining him.

Ms Thomson will be continuing in a management and administrative role.

“We have made the strategic decision to grow and expand at a time when many agencies are downsizing due to significantly lower property sales,” Mr Samuel said.

Director Gary Peer echoed these thoughts.

“We are investing in our team and increasing their opportunity to perform at an optimum level by growing the team and support network around them. With an increased client base, we will continue finding further ways to be innovative and enhance utilisation of available technology,” he said.

“We are delighted to be combining the best [of] Thomson Murrumbeena with the best we have. Our firms have been around for a total of 87 years, so we should be able to take advantage of some serious expertise and resources to further enhance the client experience.”

As part of the merger, the companies will also be sharing knowledge and resources across all of their six geographically close offices.

Gary Peer co-founder and director Phillip Kingston added that the past seven to eight years has been significant in the company’s road map in terms of office expansion.

“It’s great to have people eager to grow and succeed in the property business, and we are committed to giving them the best chance to excel here. Now with Thomson Murrumbeena bringing their skills to the mix, we can provide more local clients with a bigger and better real estate experience,” Mr Kingston said.
