As the hammer comes down on The Block properties that have graced our screens this year, a tech company has stepped in to expand the bidding pool.
Gavl has stepped up to the plate to give prospective buyers the chance to watch and bid in the auctions in real time using its app.
The platform allows buyers to watch auctions live, browse listings and shortlist properties from their favourite device. As a result, vendors can reach a larger crowd of prospective buyers from anywhere in the world.
“We are so excited to be partnering with The Block,” Gavl CEO Joel Smith said. “It will be the perfect opportunity to showcase some of the most talked about properties in Melbourne right now to a global audience.”
Last year, Wilson Agents used the app to sell one of the properties on the program. This year, all five of the Grey Street properties will feature on it.
“What is really exciting about the opportunity Gavl presents is that it opens up an entirely new audience of buyers,” Wilson Port Phillip’s Graeme Wilson said. “Not everyone can be there in person, and Gavl allows them to bid from home, live.”
The Block’s Greville Pabst acts as a buyer’s advocate, and he will use the app for his clients this weekend.
“Gavl allows my clients to be engaged in The Block auctions whilst protecting their identities,” he said. “Some can’t physically be able to attend auction day, but they can still be involved in the experience and not held back for geographical reasons.”
