Real estate is not a typical nine-to-five job, and with smartphones within reach all the time, Ric Serrao struggles to switch off from work.
Speaking on an episode of the Secrets of the Top 100 Agents podcast, Raine & Horne Double Bay principal Ric Serrao has revealed how envious he is of agents with a good work/life balance.
“I’m just one of those people, and there’s a lot of us out there, where people say you’ve got ADD,” Mr Serrao told host Phil Tarrant.
“You just tend to be on overdrive and very much focused about tunnel vision on one or two things, which I’m not proud to say is necessarily a good thing, but you do tend to set goals, and you pursue them.
“I envy people that are in the industry or in other industries that talk about the balance of life and how they’re able to switch off and do a lot of different things. That’s not my skill set, unfortunately.”
His drive and determination to be a success ranked as the fifth top agent in REB’s Top 100 Agents ranking – up one place from last year.
Although many professionals have a daily routine, Mr Serrao’s attempt at a normal life is his template for a typical week.
He crams his week with callbacks, running a couple of franchises, locking in appraisals, all while finding time to relax on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
“I just had a lifestyle change with an addition to the family and what have you, so you’re starting to revise some of those values,” the principal said.
