Marcus Chiminello gets insulted when an agent walks into the office and waits until they can clock off and head home.
Speaking on an episode of the Secrets of the Top 100 Agents podcast, Marshall White’s Marcus Chiminello has revealed one of his top tips in sales training.
“I find it really insulting for agents who come into the office every day to see the hours trickle by until they can clock off and go home,” Mr Chiminello told host Phil Tarrant.
“I think it’s really disrespectful to their loved ones; it’s disrespectful to their own time and disrespectful to themselves to not dedicate time to things that they passionately love.”
Dedication to real estate is what saw Mr Chiminello through the global financial crisis a decade ago. And he thinks agents need that determination.
Before he had kids, he would maximise his time at the office. He would get in straight from the gym and shower at work. He would chug back a protein shake at his desk, and spend the first 90 minutes preparing his day and doing all the non-dollar-productive tasks before anyone else arrived at the office.
“By the time that I started my day at 9am, when I can pick up the phone and talk to people at a credible hour, everyone else was playing catch-up.”
Mr Chiminello’s philosophy is that if he commits to at least an extra hour a day to his work than his colleagues, he would be streets ahead of his competition.
“For me, it was about working more, but working far more efficiently in those hours,” he said.
To this day, Mr Chiminello puts his all into his work. As a result, he is doing more dollar-productive tasks now than he has ever done.
