Home owners are being warned following a tragic electrical accident in Western Australia, which resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man.

Building and Energy has issued a statement confirming that it is currently investigating an electric shock incident that resulted in the death of the man at his home in The Vines.

The incident took place at approximately 6:30pm Monday, 9 December, where the man was found unresponsive near an outdoor spa pool.

Early reports have stated that he appears to have sustained an electric shock after coming into contact with an electrified component of the spa’s heating and pumping equipment.

Building and Energy electrical safety inspectors went to The Vines home the night of the incident and also returned the following day.

“The power supply to the spa has been disconnected,” Building and Energy noted in its statement.

“The comprehensive investigation into the cause of the electric shock will continue over coming weeks.”
