Real estate professionals enjoy talking about the troubles the industry faces, but one real estate boss believes it is time for action.

Speaking on an episode of the Secrets of the Top 100 Agents podcast, Starr Partners CEO Douglas Driscoll has revealed that he thinks it is time to move beyond the conversation and start to implement change.

Mr Driscoll believes if industry leaders could look beyond their own agendas, there would be a chance for mature conversations. But he would like to see action taken for the greater good of the industry.

“I worry that it may almost be too late,” he told host Phil Tarrant. “It really is time to come together now and act.

“If you think about our industry, it’s probably one of the most nuanced and most fragmented industries youre ever going to find. And youve got all these different real estate institutes, of course, and they all kind of disagree with one another and [are] always bickering and fighting.”

Mr Driscoll believes it is time for someone to bring the entire industry together to have a serious conversation to set the future direction of real estate in Australia.

“There are some things were never going to stop. You cant stop progress, thats for sure. But we need to make sure that were front and centre of real estate as a transaction moving forward. And if we dont do that, then as I said, we are going to become irrelevant and/or redundant if were not careful.”
