It has been a week since the industry came together to support those affected by bushfires, and the charity of individual teams has enlightened industry leaders.
This is the second time the industry has united with a common cause in the last year; the first time was to challenge a negative gearing proposal by the Labor Party at the 2019 election.
“It is a good show of cohesion when it is counted,” PRDnationwide chairman Tony Brasier told Real Estate Business, “when we can come together with a single purpose.”
He congratulated Ray White for instigating Beyond the Bricks and pulling the industry together for the common good.
“We hit the ground running and have been happily reaching out to all our franchises and showing them how they can support,” Mr Brasier said. “It’s only a few days old, but most of our offices are behind it.”
They have suggested to their sales team to donate $10 of their commission to the cause.
However, not all of PRDnationwide’s agents have been lucky with the bushfires.
One of their team members lost their home, while others have had fires cause damage to their property.
When it comes to supporting those people, Mr Brasier said they would work with them individually to make sure they fully recover.
McGrath CEO Geoff Lucas has recently visited Mollymook and Ulladulla in NSW where the agency recently opened two new franchise offices.
“[We] were inspired by their and the communities’ strength, bravery and resilience in the face of this devastating emergency,” Mr Lucas said.
“I have never seen anything like these harrowing scenes in Conjola where over 90 homes have been lost. So, as an industry, whatever we can do collectively is not only important but critical as we support the communities that we know so well.”
