A Brisbane home has attracted a massive number of groups at its first open home, giving agents confidence for the area’s property market.

Just two days after agent Lance Russell listed a Kedron home on the market, he held his first open home and had 71 groups through the door in half an hour.

“I was completely blown away by the amount of people that came through,” Mr Russell said.

“I’ve been selling houses for the past 13 years, and the most groups I have ever had attend a single open home was 46, so to have 71 groups walk through on Saturday was phenomenal.”

The Coronis agent compared it to a school drop-off.

“We had at least 150 people on the property at any one time, the street was full, and there were cars parked everywhere the eye could see,” he said.

He knew it would be a popular open home as the listing had more than 5,000 views on a property portal, while other homes in the Kedron area tend only to get about 750.

The reason the property has been popular is linked to supply and demand, Mr Russell said.

“I sold the house to the current owners six years ago, and they’ve since renovated it into a beautiful character-style Queenslander with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There’s nothing else like it on the market, which means buyers don’t have a lot of choice at the moment.”

He also noted it was in a sought-after school catchment area.

“I think Saturday’s record indicates that buyers are back out in force after the holidays and demand is far outstripping supply,” Mr Russell said.

“Another property I have listed on Rode Road, which has been on the market for two months, also had 21 groups through on Saturday, which is the most interest since I first listed it.

“It’s definitely a great time for Kedron home owners who have been thinking of moving to sell; there is no shortage of buyers out there currently.”
