A New South Wales real estate agent has appealed a conviction that landed him behind bars.

Keith Ellis initially pleaded guilty to sexual touching without consent in the Armidale Local Court last year.

He was sentenced to a year in prison, with a minimum of six months behind bars before he is eligible for parole, The Armidale Express reported.

However, the Armidale agent appealed to the district court after he was taken into custody.

Mr Ellis was initially charged with two offences, but one was dropped before he entered a guilty plea.

Many details around the case cannot be reported for legal reasons.

The 32-year-old is still listed as a property consultant on Green Jelly Real Estate’s website, where it says he has been working in real estate since 2012.

He is on bail until his appeal can be heard at the Armidale District Court in late March.
