Cobden & Hayson has noticed a growing trend of Inner West buyers looking for larger land and home opportunities, so it expanded its operation.

The Sydney agency, which has a strong foothold in the Inner West, noticed buyers were paying attention to the type of properties in Lane Cove, so the agency has expanded into the suburb.

“The same occurs in reverse as empty-nesters are looking to downsize and get into areas like Balmain and Annandale that are close to the CBD and offer good lifestyle options,” Cobden & Hayson director Matthew Hayson said.

The expansion has been a strategic decision by the agency, which was backed up by online activity where people located in the Inner West were searching for properties in the Lane Cove area, he said.

“Opening an office in this location is a strategic move to present those leaving the Inner West for the North Shore and those looking to do the opposite with viable property opportunities,” Mr Hayson said.

“We also run one central database across the five office locations, providing every agent access to a wealth of buyers that we can now offer a broader array of buying and leasing options.”

This will not be the end of expansion for Cobden & Hayson, as it continues to look for more mergers and acquisitions that make financial sense while enhancing its overall service.

“Through trial and error, we’ve refined our formula, we’ve set our back-end technology and systems to support growth, but we’re not rushing into mindless expansion. If we see a logical extension for our customers and how we can create collaboration with other like-minded businesses, then we’ll pursue those options,” Mr Hayson said.

“We’re in active conversations with existing business owners in a variety of suburbs that offer synergy, so if we can line up the detail, there may be an additional office location in 2020.”
