With agents having to adapt to current restrictions and the ban on open housing making it difficult to create an emotional connection with properties, the industry is being forced to become more creative.
During a successful marketing strategy, which attracted over 200,000 views on social media, Belle Property Byron Bay/Lennox Head’s principal agent, Braden Walters, explained how agents can still create an emotional connection with buyers.
“I think it is putting the area on the map. It is more of a story. For this one in Bangalow and the times we are in,” he said.
“People are sitting in their apartment in the Gold Coast and working from home or remotely, realising for the money we are spending, we can work from a better location.
“They can get into Byron Hinterlands, sit in paradise, clean air, better produce, so they can still work remotely but from an amazing location.
“If anything, we are starting to put that in people’s mind. If you can work remotely, why not do it from the best location?”
While COVID-19’s impact is obviously affecting investors’ pockets, Mr Walters believes every buyer is still available, with the agent having to work harder to find them.
He said: “I believe every buyer is still there. I believe every buyer is watching the market. We’ve ramped up our phone calls to buyers and all the buyers we’ve spoken to still want to buy, they are waiting for restrictions to ease or the market to drop to a level that makes them act, or if they sold they are still actively looking.
“So, the buyers are still there, some have just come out with an excuse not to buy. So, the smart ones are buying now.”
