The real estate industry has received a timely reminder of its role in the community, with a local agent helping school kids get an education.
When COVID-19 restricted access for Riverstone High School students, LJ Hooker sales agent Sanjeev Kumar donated resources to help 10 affected students.
“Sometimes we take what we have for granted,” Mr Kumar said. “Riverstone High School identified 10 families that had limited access to the internet for the child’s learning devices. The deputy principal reached out to my business, and with a bit of luck, we were able to source 10 USB dongles which will help the families access the internet so their children can continue learning online.”
Mr Kumar explained the importance of real estate working in the community, highlighting since starting his business in February that he is looking to help foster relationships with the wider community.
“Having grown up locally and now working in Riverstone, I felt it was important to connect with the community as we look after one another,” he said.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged businesses, it has impacted the way students learn, and it is important education is not overlooked.
“We cannot let COVID-19 impact children’s learning,” Mr Kumar said. “In any trade or skill, it is so important to be able to learn and adapt to the challenges we face, and our ability to do this starts at school.”
As a thank-you for Mr Kumar’s generosity, the school’s principal and deputy principal gave Mr Kumar an exclusive tour of its new learning building.
“The new learning building was incredible. It gave me an insight into how schools are changing and adapting. The facility felt open and interactive, and there was one section that made me feel like I was at a TED Talk,” he said.
“It’s a very impressive school and an important part of our community.”
