Several new agents-turned-principals have been recruited as part of a network’s bid to continue its expansion across Australia and New Zealand.

One Agency now boasts over 600 agents across Australasia after recruiting four new members in May, including Elli Birnie in Brighton-Le-Sands, NSW; Jeff Chang in Parramatta, NSW; Hazel McGinty in Gosnells, WA; and Samantha Richards in Toronto, NSW.

Across the ditch, Renate and Daniel Ochse are already licensees with One Agency in the Far North, but they’ve revealed their expansion into Napier, while Ian Croft will be taking on new territory under the One Agency umbrella from Pukekohe into Papatoetoe.

After seven years in the industry, Mr Chang has successfully made the move from agent to principal.

“A lot of real estate agencies are using business models that worked 10 to 20 years ago, but aren’t as relevant today. I wanted to start a business that placed a much greater emphasis on customer service,” he said.

Similarly, Ms Birnie and Ms Richards, who have each spent 18 and 31 years in the industry, respectively, were happy to have made a move towards business independence.

“I love the fact that instead of working for someone else, I get to work for myself. And I’m not required to get an expensive office on the main street — I can work from home,” Ms Birnie said.

“At the same time, I’m part of a group, so if I’ve got a problem, there’s always someone to call. This is going to make my future career more enjoyable and more profitable.”

For Renate and Daniel Ochse, their move into Napier follows a five-year run with the brand.

Through the years, the duo has grown a team they say are “successful in their own right”.

“They are self-motivated, experienced and love the autonomy of working from home without the constraints that traditional real estate models place on their teams,” the Ochses explained.

“We enjoy being part of a brand with offices in three countries and yet being as independent as we choose to be while staying within the framework of the One Agency brand standards.

“All in all, we are a happy team due to the flexibility we have within the brand, and this in itself is key to our success to date.”
