A Yorke Peninsula real estate group has added an all-new office in a bid to better service the South Australian region.

Continuing to build on the success of Ray White Yorke Peninsula, sales principal David Bussenschutt and managing director Melissa Bussenschutt have decided to open their fourth office space under the banner, in Moonta.

The pair first kicked off Ray White Yorke Peninsula 11 years ago in Kadina, and saw them take a big leap from their previous careers.

“We’ve been locals all our lives, and we both decided to go into sales. A few years later, we were offered the opportunity to open our own Ray White franchise,” Ms Bussenschutt said.

“It was a massive move for us, but we are big believers in nothing ventured, nothing gained. So, with six kids between us and not much to our names, we mortgaged the house and began our business.

“[About] 18 months into owning the franchise, it all started to flow and we were able to attract a bigger team and move to a larger office.”

The continued expansion was part of their decision to be the “biggest and best agency in Yorke Peninsula”, according to Mr Bussenschutt.

“We’ve opened the four offices under one umbrella because they cover such a massive area and a huge market that we couldn’t get with just one office. It covered off an area where we were missing a lot of business,” he said.

The new office space sees the pair welcome sales agent and former principal Greg Smith into the fold, who boasts more than three decades of experience.

He said: “I have reached a time in my life where I still love real estate but want to step back from business ownership to spend more time with my family. I have no plans to leave the industry and I’m excited to be part of the Ray White team and to be able to keep following my passion, which is sales.

“My staff have been offered their positions and we all look forward to helping Ray White grow their business.”

The heart of the business

Even with continual expansion of the business, Ms Bussenschutt said one thing never changed: The customers are always at the heart of every decision.

“Our main priority is our clients and we place a high value on good-quality customer service. Being able to cover such a large area means we can offer them the very best service,” she said.

She believes that “being a regional office, it’s more important than ever to give our clients good service. The more people you know, the more relationships you can build, so we believe in good, old-fashioned customer service.”

“We pride ourselves on being the local guys you can trust,” she said.

Looking ahead, Mr Bussenschutt said they aim to open up more opportunities for their clients as the Yorke Peninsula transforms into a “hot market” — as it witnesses unprecedented demand, with new residents moving into the area since COVID-19.

According to the sales principal, the wide variety of buyers currently in the regional SA market include people who want to escape the city, holiday homemakers, first home buyers, local buyers and interstate buyers from New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.

“For a five-person sales team, the last year has been challenging. Just like everywhere else, the market is incredibly hot right now and there are no signs of it slowing,” he noted.

Ray White South Australia | Northern Territory CEO Matthew Lindblom has expressed his support for Mr and Mrs Bussenschutt, who he said “perfectly represent the Ray White family values of integrity, leadership, discipline and the ambition to strive for more”.

“We are thrilled that Melissa and David have taken another step in growing their hugely successful business,” the CEO said.

“They are the clear market leaders in the Yorke Peninsula and I have no doubt they will continue to achieve their goals, and I look forward to celebrating their success.”
