The owners of a Bowral real estate agency have been left reeling after a fire ripped through their office space and that of several other local businesses.

First National Real Estate Abode Property only moved to the main street of Bowral six months ago.

Alongside a number of other local business on the corner of Bong Bong Street and Merrigang Street, the office’s premises have now been devastated by the blaze that occurred on the evening of 1 July 2021.

Even with the office “completely destroyed”, owners Allan and Anna Falvey are determined to fight on.

“My wife Anna and I are determined to come back, bigger and stronger, and we’re doing everything possible to reassure our staff and customers that we will see this challenge through and be back on our feet as soon as possible,” the principal commented.

Mr Falvey added: “This is just a temporary setback that we will recover from.

“We have worked so hard to build a business with a strong reputation and everything was really starting to come together.”

REB understands First National Abode Property is already in recovery mode, contacting customers and still attending appointments to show properties.

First National’s chief communications officer, Stewart Bunn, said that within half a day of the fire occurring, the network’s disaster plan had taken effect.

He said this had enabled First National Abode Property to not only continue its operations, but also conduct appraisals and customer appointments.

He said: “The network is providing a pathway to recovery, and our performance partners, including Zenu, are also contributing their support.

“Communications with local radio and social media have helped customers to understand what has occurred, how to get in touch, and staff have been reassured of the agency’s commitment to emerge stronger.”

According to Mr Falvey, “our customers still need us and we will not let them down”.
