A former franchise recruiter is taking on the auction space, revealing a brand-new business venture.
Jerome Smith is not new to the auction scene, having called in excess of 2,500 auctions across Sydney, but his new business, Above The Reserve, is aiming to leave an “indelible mark” on the city’s auction scene.
Having called auctions across South-Western, Western, North-West Sydney, The Hills District and across the Sydney basin, the auctioneer has balanced his duties to date alongside numerous roles in corporate franchise recruitment.
Most recently employed as the head of franchise recruitment at Mortgage Choice, Mr Smith was responsible for spearheading the growth of 41 new franchises Australia-wide during his time with the brokerage business — reported to be the most recruitment growth by the brand in more than seven years.
The Mortgage Choice role followed franchise growth stints at Ray White and LJ Hooker.
At Ray White, he was a business growth and development manager, as well as a group auctioneer, while his time at LJ Hooker saw him take on the title of senior network development manager.
But now, it’s time for him to take on the new challenge, in his area of passion: calling auctions.
In a statement unveiling the new business, Mr Smith said Above The Reserve would bring “a unique level of energy and tenacity” to the auction space, through continuous involvement in a campaign by Mr Smith with the associated agent, agency and vendor.
While the middle of a Greater Sydney lockdown may not appear to be the most ideal time to launch an auction business, given that onsite and in-person auctions are off the cards, he’s also acknowledged his own capacity “to adapt and successfully facilitate sales” via online processes.
