Two Stone Real Estate executive leaders will be taking part in the 2021 Mystery Box Rally, the largest community-led fundraising event for the Cancer Council in Australia.
Stone’s head of training and auctions, Peter Malouf, alongside general manager Jamie Bennett have announced their plans to take part in this year’s Mystery Box Rally, with the aim of raising $10,000 for the Cancer Council.
The event, set to take place in November, will see participants driving cars more than 25 years old along a 2,500-kilometre as-yet-unknown route across the Central Queensland outback.
For Mr Malouf, this drive — and the raising of funds for the Cancer Council — is a personal journey: “I lost two close friends to cancer in 2018 and an immediate family member was diagnosed in the same year. When you learn someone has cancer, you are completely at the mercy of doctors and modern medicine.
“While treatments are good, we still don’t have a cure or less invasive ways of treatment and the only thing that will get us closer is more research. And that takes a lot of money, so the best way we could help was to raise money and the best avenue I could find was to take part in the Mystery Box Rally.”
In nine years, the Mystery Box Rally has successfully raised over $4.5 million for the Cancer Council.
The national event has already garnered over $1 million in donations across all team entries for 2021.
Expressing that any and all donations to the cause will be very much appreciated, Mr Malouf highlighted that the pair have already secured their car, their team sponsors and are on track to raise their target amount.
He said: “Jamie and I promise to have fun and try our best to coax our trusty Hyundai across the finish line without breaking down!”
