Starring in a top-rating reality TV show has not stopped Gavin Rubinstein from breaking a network sales record this year.

As well as starring in Amazon Prime’s “biggest Australian original release to date”, Luxe Listings Sydney, Mr Rubinstein has successfully sold more than $250 million worth of real estate, barely three weeks into the new financial year and amid Sydney’s lockdown.

According to Ray White, the TRG agent settled enough volumes in less than two weeks in July to reach Elite status — making him the fastest to reach the Elite recognition in New South Wales, and the fastest to reach the milestone in residential sales across the entire Ray White network this new financial year.

Ray White’s Elite status is the recognition bracket reserved for the top 3 per cent within the network.

According to the new reality star, “buyer demand is extremely high now — in fact, the highest I have seen in my career”.

“Quality stock is selling at extremely high levels. The current lack of supply I believe has been the biggest driver in underpinning prices,” he said.

With this trend in place, he believes Sydney is now in “a prime time” for selling properties.

He said: “There is no doubt that right now is the best time to sell purely based on the fact that buyers have all-time record-low options in terms of listings and we as agents have all-time record-high enquiry.

“A majority of people want to wait until lockdown is over to sell, which would suggest there could be increased choice post-lockdown, potentially flattening the curve on increasing prices.

“My view is to sell now in isolation rather than in competition when lockdown is over.”

According to him, with the right professional approach and strategy managed correctly, vendors can ultimately “navigate through the COVID restrictions and create a successful sale outcome”.

“Lockdown has slowed transactions purely because some people have been put off the idea of buyers coming through their homes in unusual times, but like all evolving markets, we pivot, adapt and overcome,” he said.

Navigating Sydney

While Luxe Listings Sydney brings out the luxury in real estate, navigating a changing market can be far from glamorous — especially amid unpredictable waves brought forth by the pandemic.

While today’s property market does present challenges, Mr Rubinstein said closing record-breaking deals was made possible by “having [substantial] solutions… and focusing on them rather than the problem”.

“I am extremely proud of the synergy [within my team] and am looking forward to growing once we move into our new premises — we ran out of space in our current premises 12 months in,” the agent said.

“I am excited to get back on the recruitment front.”

Ray White managing director Dan White has expressed his support for Mr Rubinstein, whom he sees as “globally known for his high minimum standard of excellence”.

Mr White said the TRG team is “high-energy, highly focused and relentless in going the extra distance for their clients. Gavin has become a great leader which has enabled everyone on the team to chase their potential.”
