A move to virtual auctions hasn’t slowed down buyer interest in the blue-ribbon Sydney suburb, a local agency has reported.
Lumby Hampson has revealed a record-breaking auction result at 21 Wyoming Rd, Dural, which netted a $6.3 million result for its vendors.
The agency reported 16 registered bidders as in the mix for the 10-bedroom home, set on a two-hectare estate with an indoor pool and a tennis/basketball court.
It said the result was the highest amount ever paid under the hammer in the blue-ribbon suburb.
Principals Kate Lumby and Will Hampson said they’ve had a smooth transition to virtual sales since lockdown required it.
“In the lockdown, we are finding that buyers are just getting on with it and don’t seem at all fazed by the online process, or if they do need help, they will ask,” Mr Hampson said.
He acknowledged that the process “is not as fast as a ‘live’ auction’” — with some running for up to an hour, but considered the differences as ending there.
“It can still be very suspenseful and exciting waiting for the hammer to fall, particularly with such strong competition in the current market,” he commented.
Dural is not the only suburb in The Hills netting strong returns for vendors, with Lumby Hampson highlighting several other online auction results.
More than 130 bids were traded during the recent auction of 58A Annangrove Rd, Kenthurst, which ended up selling for $4.158 million — $685,000 above expectations.
A Glenhaven property has also proved record-breaking, with the agency reporting that 9 Glenhaven Rd achieved an online auction price of $5.415 million back in July.
With 20 registered bidders, the two-hectare property achieved a final result almost $1 million above expectations.
