The Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA) has introduced a new real estate specialisation program aimed at consumers.

The REIWA has launched the REIWA Accreditation Program, which CEO Neville Pozzi said ultimately aims to improve the standards of excellence within the state’s real estate market and allows Western Australians to make more confident and informed decisions.

“We are always looking for ways to improve the standards of excellence within the WA real estate industry,” the CEO said.

“The REIWA Accreditation Program puts a spotlight on those WA real estate professionals who are specialists in their fields and makes them easily identifiable to the WA public.”

Specialty fields included in the program include: Auctioneer, Business Broker, Buyer’s Agent, Commercial Leasing, Commercial Sales, Commercial Property Management, Property Manager, Rural Representative, Sales Representative and Strata Manager.

To become REIWA Accredited, agents must meet a range of criteria:

  • Be an ordinary or associate REIWA member.
  • Hold a current licence or registration.
  • Have attained the the regulatory CPD requirements for the past three consecutive years.
  • Have five years of experience within the specialisation.

Through the Accreditation Program, Mr Pozzi said investors and home owners would be better able to take the “guesswork” out of hiring a real estate professional.

“Choosing a real estate professional to help you buy, sell or manage property is a big decision… so you [need to] feel confident the real estate professional you are dealing with is an industry leader and highly specialised in their field,” the CEO concluded.
