A new rural and livestock office in the Upper Hunter region is set to benefit from its principal’s love of the land.

Hamish Firth, who opened the doors to Ray White’s operation in the town of Scone this week, ran his own successful landscaping business before moving into a real estate career.

He also comes armed with the experience of having grown up for a time on his family’s turf farm and cattle operation in Kilcoy.

Mr Firth said that owning a rural-based real estate agency was the realisation of a long-held ambition.

“The landscaper in me means I genuinely enjoy helping people prepare their property for sale and being part of the process of maximising their result,” he said.

Having moved to Scone in 2013, Mr Firth is well versed in the area known as the “horse capital of Australia”.

“There are a lot of multi-generational families who have been in Scone for years and lately it’s become a well known magnet for people looking for lifestyle, grazing, farming and horse breeding properties. There’s also a strong demand for grazing and farming country throughout the Willow Tree, Merriwa and Liverpool Plains areas,” he said.

Mr Firth is looking forward to helping the recent surge of city-dwellers seeking a tree change find their home in the Upper Hunter, as well as capitalising on some exciting upgrades coming to the area.

“The town is booming – we’ll soon boast the best racing facilities in regional Australia thanks to the $20 million development of the Scone Racecourse, which includes $4 million for a poly track upgrade and $16 million worth of new stable facilities,” he noted.

Ray White Rural & Livestock group’s managing director Stephen Nell said that Mr Firth’s local knowledge and background made him a great fit to lead the office in Scone.

“We are immensely proud that such a well known agent as Hamish has chosen to open a rural office with us,” Mr Nell said.

“I have no doubt he will be an asset to the rural team – we look forward to celebrating his future success and wish him all the best.”
